II · The material
Acetate with a lineage.
Our frames are cut from Mazzucchelli acetate, made in Italy by a family house that has been perfecting the material since 1849. It is warm to the touch, rich in depth, and it only grows more beautiful with wear.
III · How it's made
From cotton, to colour, to frame.
Real acetate takes weeks, not minutes. Every stage below happens before a single frame is cut.

01The raw block
Cotton and wood pulp become cellulose, the natural base of true acetate.

02Colour, by hand
Pigments are weighed and blended by eye, so no two batches are quite alike.

03Layered & pressed
Coloured sheets are stacked and pressed, building the depth you see in every tortoise.

04Cut into frames
Slabs are cut, shaped and polished by hand, then fitted with Carl Zeiss lenses.
